Route 4: Trekking of Capo Palinuro “The Fortini and Torri trail”
Experience a beautiful hike on a path that runs through the top of the promontory, immersed in the Mediterranean scrub, discovering ancient watchtowers of the Vicereal period and fortifications that once defended the territory by pirates. Starting from the port of Palinuro and climbing along a traced path, you’ll reach the top of Capo Palinuro where the lighthouse and the weather station are located. Along the way, you can admire breathtaking views over the rocky cliffs of the head where the Reef Gull, Pilgrim Hawk and the precious Palinuro Primula can still live undisturbed. The return will be downhill on a trail that crosses a thick and fresh pine forest, which is back near the Palinuro harbor parking lot.
